Hold the phone. Are you ready for this?
Just because you think it's time to revamp your online presence, doesn't mean you're ready to devote the time and resources required to reach your full potential. If you're not sure whether you're prepared to embark on this journey, please look over this checklist.
-
You Have Goals
When I say "goals", I mean something that can be clearly defined and measured: increase sales, get more leads, climb the rankings on Google, etc. This is the only way to determine a successful digital marketing campaign.
-
You Have Passion
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but building an online presence is a marathon, not a sprint. There won't be any overnight success. While I will be cheering you on every step of the way, you need to have the inner determination to push through to the finish line even after hitting a wall.
-
You Have a Budget
In order to achieve real results, you will have to invest some money. If the appropriate investment would force you to take out your life savings or send IOUs to your employees, you are NOT ready to undertake a website project. By the same token, I am not out to profit at your expense. My #1 priority is to enable you to receive a positive return on your investment.
-
You Have a Team
Unless you already have a framework of support in place, whether it's just a virtual assistant who helps out a few hours per week or a full-fledged marketing department, you're going to have a tough time convincing me to take on your project. Every project requires a team effort to share the work and support each other.
-
You Have Time
Most projects take at least a month to complete. While I will work as quickly as possible, I'm not going to cut corners just because you're in a hurry. I also will not neglect my other clients in order to focus solely on your project. On the other hand, while I realize that you have other business and family obligations, I will expect you to be available for meetings and to provide content and feedback in a timely manner over the course of the project. (Hint: this is where a team would be helpful).
